OM-1 Initial Reviews

This is a short announcement article that features links to a number of OM-1 initial reviews that readers may find of interest.

As regular readers know, this is not a gear review website. I only do the occasional review on specific camera equipment that I actually own and use.

Today OM Digital Solutions has announced the launch of its new OM-1 flagship camera. No doubt there will a lot of information on the internet over the next few weeks. Below you will find some OM-1 initial reviews that may be of interest.

OM Systems has also introduced two new lenses. The M.Zuiko 12-40 PRO II and the M.Zuiko 40-150 f/4 PRO.

These new product introductions confirm the commitment that OM Digital Solutions has to the camera market.

  1. Thank you very much for these links, Tom. As I listen, it appears that the use of the camera for BIF has improved as it seems to bring the features found in the M1X. Also, those who use it for video will see some major improvements. There are, of course, other impressive upgrades.
Is this a camera you will consider adding to your 4/3 lineup?

    1. Hi Ron,

I agree that the new OM-1 has a number of impressive upgrades. We aren’t planning to add any camera gear to our kit, since our depreciation schedule is already robust given the purchases we made for the business the last few years. I think the OM-1 will be of interest to a wide range of photographers. On a personal basis I much prefer using the E-M1X with its integrated grip than a smaller format body.

      1. sad to hear you won’t be getting your hands on an OM-1 anytime soon Thomas.
i would have been very keenly interested to know your thoughts regarding any noteworthy differences/performance improvements of the Oly 100-400 on the EM1X vs the OM-1.

        1. Thanks for your interest fuzzy wuzzy… but the OM-1 just isn’t in our future, as we noted in an earlier article.

No doubt there will be a lot of comparative information being produced about the OM-1 vs. E-M1X over the coming weeks and months, so photographers should be well served in this regard.
