Capturing images of geese in flight is often how many photographers begin to develop their BIF technique.  Geese make ideal subjects since they are large, slower flying birds. Their flight patterns tend to be in reasonably straight lines and they often announce their approach with a chorus of honking, allowing us to get prepared to take some photographs of them. Vultures at Niagara Gorge

This week I had the opportunity to shoot a few images of vultures with one of our readers, Ray Miller. He has been kind enough to provide our readers with some of his favourite photographic locations in the Niagara area and once again shared his expertise. Cormorants in flight with Nikon 1 J5

From time to time I like to go out on a limb and try something experimental just for fun. Before I get too far into this article I’d like to thank one of our readers (and a fellow photography writer) Ross Chevalier for sparking the idea for this article (you can check out his site here). In one of his comments Ross suggested that it may be possible to use elastic bands to affix a Hoodman or Zacuto Z-Finder to a Nikon 1 J5 and create a viewfinder.
