Elora Street Photography

Street photography in Elora Ontario can be a bit different than in many other towns as the Grand River runs through the community providing some interesting scenes.

While currently closed and under renovations, The Elora Mill is still a landmark in the town.

The stone edifice integrates well with its surroundings and one can only imagine the talent that was required to construct such a beautiful building.

The best views of The Elora Mill Inn are from the bridge that crosses the Grand River.

Using a telephoto zoom or a selection of prime lenses will produce a range of different perspectives.

There are some power lines that cross the Grand River. If you are unable to frame your images exactly as you want, you may need to crop your images or do some work in post to eliminate the power lines.

I suppose no article of mine would be complete without some kind of mechanical thing photographed at an unusual angle.

The town of Elora is very quaint and picturesque. There are numerous old, stately buildings, eclectic shops and eateries.

I loved the details along the main street that runs parallel to the Grand River.

Splashes of colour abound during this time of year making Elora a wonderful destination for tourists and photographers alike.

People who enjoy architectural photography will appreciate the many older buildings and period fixtures.

The Elora area is home to a thriving artistic community.

The ambience of the old town area is elegant but relaxed.

Even Mother Nature seems to cooperate in the beauty that is Elora.

The Grand River was sufficiently calm, as was the wind, during the day that I visited to allow for the reflection image below.

Some of the older buildings in the old section of town abut the Grand River.

I’ve never travelled to Europe, but my wife commented that the proximity of the old, stone buildings to the Grand River created a European flavour to some of my images.

Elora is truly a gem, affording photographers many image opportunities.
