When visiting the East Coast of Canada many people stay in Halifax for a number of days. Using this city as a ‘home base’ makes visiting Lunenburg Nova Scotia accessible by way of a short hour and fifteen minute drive by car.

The Old Town area of Lunenburg is only one of two urban communities designated as UNESCO World Heritage sites in North America.

Wandering along the harbour-side streets provides a wide variety of image possibilities.

Many of the buildings are brightly painted, adding splashes of colour to your photographs.

There are also many interesting boats of various shapes and sizes that can make interesting compositions.

If you are lucky the Bluenose II may be in port, providing you with an opportunity to tour this iconic vessel.

Some regular maintenance was being done to the Bluenose II during our visit to Lunenburg.

Fans of nautical photography will enjoy exploring image opportunities along the waterfront.

Some of the docks and walkways provide additional photographic opportunities.

No visit to Lunenburg would be complete without strolling along the streets with their brightly coloured buildings.

You’ll also find some interesting signage and period architecture.

You’ll also find some interesting murals while strolling through the town.

We stayed on the outskirts of Lunenburg and I was greeted with the image opportunity below after returning from a late day visit to the Blue Rocks.
