Very true Thomas
I feel the build of the EM1-x is so sturdy that it should last years and years
If a camera meets your needs and you are getting good results why spend more? Mine cost me £600 an absolute bargain for such a beautifully built camera
I will definitely be getting the ‘old’ 100-400 also for a bargain too whole wildlife set up£1300
You may want to add to your list an excellent review of the OM-3 by Peter Baumgarten. He is a very creatively-minded photographer and the photos on his blog post are worth the visit.

Hi Terry,
I was looking for something from Peter early in the morning but wasn’t able to find anything… thanks for the link! I have updated the posting.
Tom
Thanks for this list, much appreciated.
🙂
It’s typical luck for me Thomas I have nearly decided to get the original 100-400 at a heavily discounted rate and a new one with sync IS comes out! It’s list price is around £1500 I think? I am getting the original brand new for £780 I am sure I can make it work for me
The OM3 looks lovely but I will wait a few years now I love using my EM1X
Hi Mark,
There will always be something new coming out that may tempt us from time to time. As long as we stayed focused on our own specific needs, and choose appropriate gear that represents good value, we’ll make good equipment decisions.
Tom
Very true Thomas it’s a funny cycle and a wasteful one too.
People will be clamouring over the latest and greatest, it takes a little self control not to go excitable over small upgrades – phone manufacturers for example.
As I said before your images are superb on this blog and show you don’t need the latest camera to do this.
So as I have said the EM1X will still be a great camera this hasn’t changed, I watched a few of you tube nature photography channels Espen Helland often. His earlier series showed what amazing photography he got from cameras like ours – that doesn’t change!
Hi Mark,
As long as our camera equipment helps to keep us growing with our craft, and engages our creativity there is no need for change.
Tom
