Many of us when travelling are inclined to go off the beaten path and do some exploring. This article shares a selection of images captured during a visit to Toe Head, Ireland.

As you drive along the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland you’ll have the opportunity to visit many of the more remote locations in the country. Toe Head is situated east of the village of Baltimore, on an unmarked road. The image above shows one of the better sections of the access road.
As you get closer to Toe Head the road becomes a bit more adventuresome. We didn’t realize it at the time, but this is a ‘ring road’ so there is no need to do a multiple point turn to retrace your route as we did.
Our journey to Toe Head was during a windy and rainy day. As a result I decided to use the waterproof Olympus TG-5 to capture all of our images that day.
The weather helped to accentuate the rugged landscape and give it a more ominous feeling.
The shoreline along Toe Head has been carved by the waves and wind. Walking out to get various views requires some caution… especially if one is inclined to get close to the edge.
The views of the sea cliffs can be quite spectacular.
Toe Head is one of those places where getting there is as much of an adventure as actually taking in the views once you have arrived.
