Sometimes taking a breath and experiencing the miracle of our bodies in that simple act, can be incredibly life affirming. We’re here for such a short period of time and squander so many of our precious moments with wasteful pursuits and unkind acts. We can fill our minds with a multitude of concerns. Some real. Some imagined. And… most won’t make any difference tomorrow. Next week. Or next year.

Knowing Someone
Knowing someone can be a daunting challenge as we stumble on our journey through a sea of humanity, emotions and experiences. The depth of our human experience is one of personal variability. Some lives are lived in a perpetual state of skimming the surface, barely scratching what it means to be human.
Bird Photography Fundamentals
There are four bird photography fundamentals we can keep in mind that help add some interest, action, and drama to our images. Rather than camera gear based fundamentals, they relate to the kinds of behaviours that birds exhibit. To state these four bird photography fundamentals as politely as possible these include flying, feeding, fighting, and fornicating. I like to call these the “four F’s” of bird photography. Of course, this doesn’t mean that we should stop photographing perched birds.
Nurturing Young Lives
Nurturing young lives is one of our greatest responsibilities as parents… rather than being guilty of hijacking the lives of our children. Perhaps our lives were hijacked by our parents when we were young, and we’ve fallen into the trap of following this erroneous path with our offspring. If so, it is a cycle that we have the power to break.
Future of Photography
The golden age of digital photography likely peaked a decade ago, and since then the future of photography has been looking increasingly uncertain. At least photography the way some of us older folks experienced it… using dedicated cameras and an assortment of lenses.
Focal Length and EFOV
To get the most out of our camera gear it’s important to consider the focal length and EFOV of the equipment we use. As photographers the camera gear that we choose is less important than our knowledge on how to use it effectively. How we express our creativity through this artform called photography, is the most critical factor. Not the camera gear we own.
Consider Lens Compatibility
It is always important to consider lens compatibility before buying a new camera body to avoid downstream disappointment. Many photographers are very excited about the introduction of new camera models as they often provide some performance upgrades and new technology when compared to previous generation cameras.
Psychographic Segmentation
This article discusses psychographic segmentation, along with some thoughts about how this technique could be applied to the camera market. While this article may be coming out of left field for some readers, it may be fun to see which psychographic segments resonate with you.
2022 Camera Predictions
This is the time of year when folks reveal their thoughts of the future… so I thought it may be fun to publish my 2022 camera predictions. These may be somewhat different than what you may find on other photography websites. 🙂
Observations of Everyday Life
Each of us has opportunities to make observations of everyday life, and use them to help guide us through future chapters as we meander along our finite journey here. This article shares some of my observations of everyday life, with the thought that perhaps they may be of some benefit. These observations are in no particular order.
