This article shares some images captured in the Twillingate area of Newfoundland during our recent self-drive photography tour. All of the photographs in this article were captured with the M.Zuiko PRO 12-100 f/4 IS zoom.
One of the primary objectives of our visit was to view icebergs and participate in a boat tour. We also explored some of the surrounding area and had a noteworthy stay at the Viking Vacation Home. As regular readers know, over the past nine years or so we have only highlighted accommodations on two other occasions on this website. More on that at the end of this article.
This article shares some recent insect kit field test images and discusses the rationale behind this particular equipment set-up. I suppose when many people think of insect photography the first gear that comes to mind is a macro lens. While I do use a macro lens for insect photography quite often, there are occasions when a macro lens is not a particularly effective piece of kit.
This article features a small selection of frog test images captured handheld with the M.Zuiko MC-20 teleconverter. This posting expands on a recent article that featured some pond images also captured with this teleconverter.
This article features some pond photography done with the M.Zuiko MC-20 teleconverter during a recent visit to the Royal Botanical Gardens. It can sometimes be a challenge to photograph blossoms such as water lilies… from a distance… and still get the entire flower in focus. Often we don’t have the physical access needed to get close to subject flowers. As a result we can be forced to use a longer focal length telephoto zoom lens for our compositions. This can create depth-of-field challenges.
This article shares a selection of photographs from our Western Brook Pond Boat Tour experience during our visit to Newfoundland earlier this year. Since we went quite early in the season, Bontours offered only one sailing per day at 12:30 PM.
Being prepared for opportunities is one of the fundamental factors when it comes to being successful with bird-in-flight photography. This takes some planning, and is also directly impacted by how we set up our camera gear.
This article discusses best BIF (bird-in-flight) settings, and shares a selection of recently captured photographs of purple martins in free flight. All of the featured images were captured handheld at Biggar Lagoons Wetlands in Grimsby Ontario a few days ago during a quick 1.5 hour visit. It was a very productive outing that created over 100 useable images in a very compressed time frame.
Seeing and photographing icebergs was one of the experiences on the top of my wife’s wish list when we recently visited Newfoundland. This article shares some of our images and discusses a few things to keep in mind when photographing icebergs.
This article provides some insights and observations regarding the M.Zuiko PRO 12-100 mm f/4 IS zoom in the form of a hands-on review. Our lens was purchased almost three years ago. So… a fair amount of time has elapsed which helped me formulate this assessment.
