M.Zuiko 90mm Macro

OM Systems has introduced the M.Zuiko 90mm macro f/3.5 lens which features IS Sync, focus limiter, and the ability to accept teleconverters. Since I won’t be doing a review of this lens or purchasing one in the future, I thought readers would like access to some early information on this lens.

Here is a link to the product page on the OM Systems website.

  1. May I know why you would not be interested in having it? Would you recommend that the 60mm macro is still worth considering for a first macro lens?

    1. Hi Eugene,

I’ve had a number of readers ask me the same question via email. I’m putting an article together to explain why the 90 mm macro makes no sense for me. That’s not to say that it may not be an excellent lens for other photographers.

      1. I would think the 60mm lens would have more depth of field than the 90mm, which would be beneficial in macro photography. Btw I’m thinking a 40-150 +mc20 might be more versatile for about same price (BH photo). But the magnification would be less compared to the 90mm. Waiting for yr article. Warmest regards.

        1. Hi Eugene,

Your comment has identified some important points. Add the potential impact of using extension tubes with the M.Zuiko PRO 40-150 mm f/2.8 and there is quite a lot of close-up potential. Not true macro… but useful nonetheless.
