This announcement article provides readers with some advanced information and details about our website rebranding which is currently underway. Back in July 2019 we rebranded our photography website to better reflect our transition to the M4/3 system, while also recognizing our past work with Nikon 1.
The rebranding to Small Sensor Photography has served us well over the past seven years and helped us build a strong, niche brand built around specific gear ownership within the photography community. Our website rebranding currently underway to Photographic Freedom, is another step in our creative journey, and will better position our work for the future.

As this website continued to develop its unique content and provide readers with a safe and respectful environment, it also helped to demonstrate the capabilities of small sensor cameras. Today those capabilities are more fully understood by many more people in the photographic community.

More photographers came to understand that the skill and creative vision that they brought to their work was more important than the camera gear that they happened to own.

They could get off the gear acquisition merry-go-round by getting more out of the camera equipment that they currently owned. This was liberating for many photographers… and it gave them a sense of freedom.

The rebranding of our website to Photographic Freedom is a natural evolution of the journey that we have been on with our readers for well over a decade.

Rather than continue to focus on the camera gear we use, the rebranding expands our website platform. It allows us to potentially reach a larger number of photographers who are interested in the same things as our current audience.

Things like becoming more experimental and experiential with their photography. Trusting their instincts more when out in the field creating images. Being willing to take risks with their photography. Creating images for the pure joy of doing so, and not worrying about what others think of their work. Growing in their craft while finding their own path to photographic freedom.

The core philosophies, content, and operating disciplines of this website are not changing.
We still intend to keep this website free of insults and vitriol from internet trolls and demeaning critics. We will never run advertising on this website, or try to flog new camera gear to our readers with a steady stream of gear reviews. Or, make money with affiliate relationships and ‘click through’ sales commission links. We will not accept corporate sponsorships, or payments to run advertorials.

We will continue to share our personal photographic journey with our readers, including the bumps that happen along the way. Our images will continue to include detailed EXIF data so our readers can see how specific images were captured. Without having to pay for access to this information, which is sometimes hidden behind a paywall on other websites… or simply is not shared at all.

We will continue to use our OM/Olympus M4/3 camera gear to produce new images for this website… and new eBooks for our readers. We will do our best to reply to your individual comments and questions… and will do so with the respect you deserve.
Our sincere thanks to each and every one of you for your continued support over the years. This website would not exist without it.

Technical Note
Photographs were captured handheld using camera gear as noted in the EXIF data. All images were created from out-of-camera jpegs or RAW files using my standard process in post. This is the 1536 article published on this website since its original inception in 2015.
